Honestly, I have been dreading my 30th birthday for a while now. The concept of beginning a brand new decade has been a hair difficult to wrap my head around. At times I feel like my life hasn't really begun yet and I'm already saying adios to my 20's. I know many people feel that way.
However, it was very nice to see my family for my birthday. On Thursday, Nat and I drove down from Orem to Vegas to see them. Ethan drove the 4 hours from Flagstaff, Will came over and cooked his famous gumbo, Nat and my mother baked me a strawberry cake, Phil smoked brisket, and I received calls from my dad and other family members giving me well-wishes. At the end of the day, Nat and I spent the night in a very beautiful room at the Red Rock Casino. We had a nice stay and ordered room service the following morning.
Today, I am not dreading being 30 years old as much, but trying to enjoy the time I have with my family before we head back home. It has been a relaxing and rejuvenating visit, as it normally is. I'm blessed to have my family, blessed to have made it so far to 30, and I'm looking forward to what's in store for this new decade.
With Love,
Ben
